Returning to Wesleyan in the Fall of
1966, the Moons made one more capital investment. Sam bought a 1955
Cadillac hearse from a hearse recycling operation in Granby , CT.
Duncan was in charge of the art work, and The Moons had become "motorvated"
(see photo on this web site).
The 66/67 year was the
last full year that the Moons played in earnest. That year was marked
by amazing parties at Williams, Dartmouth and Wesleyan
.a week
long run at The Five Flies in Manchester, VT
.and a concert
at Priceton without any instruments
.and all the rest.
The Moons came back to Wesleyan seven
times after graduating in 1967. These "reuniouns" were
in 1968,1977, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1992 and 1994. On these return engagements,
"Captain" Bill Machen (formerly of "Lord Leaner and
the Wild Roots") joined The Moons to handle lead guitar. Without
him, somehow all those Chuck Berry tunes would not have been the
same.
The recordings available from this
web site are digitized versions of studio recordings from 1967,
some practice tapes in 1977, and from live recordings (predominantly
from Psi Us Fall House Party in October,1980).
